Supporting local Charities

This year we have spread ourselves a little thinner and instead of supporting two very worthy charities we have chosen three. We have had a good and very busy year and are always looking to organise new events or sing at those organised by others, in order to keep the choir active and generate funds for those we support.

From year to year, we may choose to support different charities, however over the pandemic our activities were severely curtailed and we were unable to raise the funds needed to support our chosen charities as well as we would have liked. We were unable to get together for a number of months and even when we could, many were reluctant to join large gatherings and we were unable to organise any meaningful events which might enable us to generate sufficient funds.

We select charities which provide support locally or those which, as well as acting locally, are present in other parts of Spain and sometimes the world. Unemployment in Spain is still very high and there are many who need help. Our chosen charities work very hard to provide clothing, food, advice, equipment, programmes to help keep family units together and much more.

Members of our choir have met with some of the volunteers and have witnessed some of the hard work done by them to keep generating funds and ways in which they can help the disadvantaged and those in need. For many they are the first port of call when members of our society are struggling and need all the help they can get.

We thank our generous sponsors, the many donors who provide prizes for our events and the friends of our choir, all of whom make our fundraising efforts worthwhile.
